Eye on the Ball

I don’t consider myself a golf expert by any means, but I’m beginning to learn some tips and tricks of the sport. It can be very frustrating at times and I have learned that the more frustrated you feel, the worse you are likely going to play. The more we will our ball to make its way towards the hole, the more likely it is to find its way into a field or body of water. We are so focused on where we want it to go rather than where it currently lies.
Life can be frustrating like this at times. We examine a problem (the ball), assess the path we would like it to take, and instead of keeping our eyes focused on the present moment, down at the ball, they wander and get fixated on the solution. Completing our goal seems much more stressful and out of reach when we focus on the big picture and not the baby steps that it takes to get there.
When you find that your focus has wandered off from the here and now, gently pull your gaze back to the moment and reset. It does us no good to be upset with ourselves for being distracted, but instead, show yourself some grace and breath. Put your head down, and keep your eye on the ball.
