Most of us can reflect on past moments in our lives that we are not proud of.  Mistakes we made, cruel words we have said, loved ones we have hurt and pain that we have caused others.  For many of us the past also holds pain and suffering that we have experienced.  While we cannot change the facts of our past, we do have choices on how we allow the past to affect us.

Why Group Therapy for Postpartum Distress?

In her text, Therapy and the Postpartum Woman, author K. Kleiman states, “A postpartum woman needs refuge from the suffering.”  She needs to feel supported, accepted, to find direction and make meaning of her experience, and gain greater understanding of what has transpired in her life.  Group therapy can be an effective way of treating Postpartum distress for a number of reasons.
