A speaker at a Law Enforcement conference I attended several years ago made a key point that has stuck with me.  He talked about our experiences and our perspectives, noting just how different they can be from one person to the next.

Have you experienced emotional, physical, or sexual trauma? Have you found yourself minimizing the experiences because you believe that others have gone through much worse? Perhaps you tell yourself that since your trauma may not seem as bad, your pain isn’t a big deal.
